16th October 1961: Sam becomes a woman – Samantha Stormer, a beautiful secretary living in Detroit, Michigan, with her roommate Gloria Collins. Both women work at the National Motors Corporation, where Sam has just become the personal assistant to newly-appointed Vice President Buddy Wright. After avoiding Buddy’s salacious advances, Sam learns that his new boss is having an affair with Gloria, and has told her that he will leave his wife to marry her. However, Al – who has been forced into taking therapy because he now finds his best friend sexually attractive – tells him that Buddy will never file for divorce, and that Gloria will end up committing suicide.
